Vancouver
The Harbour and Hallelujah Point

After another day at "the office" I decided a bit of exercise was in order. This could have taken the form of a session on a stairmaster in a sweaty little workout room, or a pleasant evening constitutional along Coal Harbour and into Stanley Park.

It didn't take much effort to decide upon the second alternative.

An itinerant artist had taken the time during low tide to do his balancing act with stones that are now surrounded by water. If you've never seen anybody balancing rocks, yes, those stones are actually balancing (though I have seen examples elsewhere that are in fact glued together.)

My ultimate goal was Hallelujah point and the Nine O'clock Gun, but along the way another shot of the Vancouver skyline seemed in order. Keep this picture in mind, we come back to this place later in the evening. Skyline Reflections

Racing toward the Goal

Just a few yards (um, meters) from my destination, I stopped for yet another shot of the skyline. By the way, I'm told that the weather we had was not altogether typical: four days of cloudless blue sky. I suspect that old disclaimer applies; if you visit, "your mileage may vary."

The Nine O'Clock Gun having fired, I waited around for the sky to darken (remember, here in the northern latitudes, it gets dark later.) Around half past nine I was greeted with this little morsel, this "orb of hammer'd copper." I had forgotten the moon would be full today... Coppery Moonrise

One of my favorites ... A nice tight shot of Luna rising through the lit Vancouver skyline....

Here we are back at the harbor with another view across the waters toward the city center, this time with the moon risen and the skyline lit. Nocturnal Reflections
