The View from On the Water

The view from "Arnie's Ark", one of the many sailing vessels to be found on the San Francisco Bay. On regatta days, the water becomes quite colorful with jibs and spinnakers.

A big clump of Pacific fog that hasn't been dissipated by the warmth of the Marin Headlands creates this striking effect between the north tower of the Golden Gate Bridge and a westering sun. Bay Fog and Sunset

One of the best ways to see the sights of the bay is from this sailing vessel, the Hawaiian Chieftain, which takes passengers on cruises from its base of operation in Sausilito (just north of the Golden Gate bridge.)

Another piece of history that plies these waters is the floating museum, the U.S.S. Potomac, one-time presidential yacht and FDR's "Floating White House." U.S.S. Potomac
