Many Hidden Jewels
Assorted Sights around the City

What you've seen so far is nowhere near all of the city... There are many neighborhoods and districts, and they each have their own, unique character.

Once part of the Panama-Pacific Exposition (1915) this ornate structure was not originally designed to last, being built of a temporary medium, "staff," a mixture of plaster and fiber. After the Expo, the hall behind the rotunda was used alternately for tennis courts, limousine motor-pool for the newly formed United Nations, and during World War II, trucks and jeeps were stored within. Nowadays, this complex is home to several venues, including the Exploratorium, a hands-on museum of science and exploration (and a great place to take the curious!)

One of the many churches in San Francisco, St. Mark's Cathederal is certainly one of the more ornate. Seen here on a winter evening, the sun's westering glow makes the bright red brick truly stand out. St. Mark's Cathederal

In comparison to St. Mark's (just across the street,) St. Mary's lines are decidedly more contemporary.

This colorful Pagoda adorns the shore of Stow Lake, in the heart of Golden Gate Park, a beautiful wilderness within the city. Stow Lake Pagoda
